This project is a boutique hotel designed to a historical building in the centre of Oslo. The project started in February 2017 and through various stages, it completed in March 2019. The museum authorities were heavily involved with the project and several historical elements have been preserved in the building.
The hotel houses 122 room altogether of which 7 are suites. The average size of the rooms is about 25m² and the suites vary from 37 to 50m².
The original building had 6 floors of office space and the basement for luggage handling. In the project the attic space was converted, and it now hosts 7 rooms with balconies and a meeting room space.
The reception to the hotel is located in the ground floor along with a brasserie, and a cocktail bar. A former inner courtyard was converted to an additional space for the Brasserie and the Bar.
A new spiral staircase was built in the location of an original one in the corner of the ground floor. That leads to a club for jazz and events that is located in the basement of the building along with a Gym, a small wellness area and the toilets. The original main staircase in the heart of the building is still used as the main access to areas around the building.
This project was a collaboration between designers and professionals from several Nordic countries, and it has resulted to an exceptional hotel.
